Working with Spun Paper Buds – the basics
Spun paper shapes are very easy to work with because they are made of paper.
This means that you can use any type of craft paint to decorate them. However, We recommend acrylic because it dries fast, and also because it doubles as a protective layer around the shapes.
Once painted, you can cover them with glitter (glass glitter, snow glitter, metal glitter, mica flakes…) to achieve a beautiful vintage look, reminiscent of traditional Christmas ornaments made in Germany during the late 19th Century.
To do so, just brush on some white craft glue with a paintbrush and sprinkle glitter with a spoon over the spun paper buds. Let dry until the glue turns from white to clear.
TIP #1: use the little holes on top of the buds to hold the shapes with a wooden pick while you work on them.
TIP #2: To add a hanging loop to your buds, twist a piece of metal wire around a paintbrush a couple times, add a drop of glue, and insert in the hole.
